Overview

Film made for Expo 64, shot and projected using the Circarama 360° technique developed by Walt Disney. The filming setup consisted of nine fully synchronized 35 mm cameras, capable of capturing a complete 360-degree circumference. To record spectacular images, this special equipment was mounted on trains, beneath a helicopter, or on a car. During Expo 64 in Lausanne, the film was shown in a circular cinema specially built for the occasion. The vast auditorium could accommodate up to 1,500 spectators at a time. Up to 20 screenings were held each day, allowing almost four million Swiss people to experience this extraordinary cinematic event. This unique documentary about Switzerland in the 1960s, produced by Ernest A. Heiniger with music by Bernard Schulé, focuses on railways, landscapes, the population, mobility, and tourism.
